Check the connection state
Confirm Wi-Fi is enabled and airplane mode is off. Determine whether the network is missing, the password is rejected or the device connects without internet access. Test another device on the same network. These observations distinguish a device-specific issue from a router or upstream connection problem.
Try reversible steps first
Reconnect to the intended network and check the password through a trusted route. Restart the affected device after saving work. Use the operating system's network troubleshooter and inspect the adapter status. If the problem began after an update, obtain current guidance from the device or adapter manufacturer.
Treat reset as a later step
Restarting a router interrupts other users, so arrange it first. A factory reset can remove connection settings. Windows network reset can also require VPN or virtual-network software to be set up again. Record the relevant configuration and recovery method before taking a step that changes the wider environment.
Information that helps support
- The exact network error and whether the network appears in the list.
- Device, adapter and router models.
- Whether other devices can connect.
- Whether the issue affects a home, workplace or guest network; never send the password in the request.
